When do you walk away?
Ray Rhodes suffered what some believe to be his second stroke in two months. The Defensive Coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks is only 54 years old and doesn't seem to get the rest and relaxation he needs. He's an extremely intense guy and doesn't know how to quit. I guess you really need to take a hard look at your life and see what's more important to you. I'm personally a workaholic and don't get the rest that a normal person needs. I guess that's why I'm always so damned tired in the morning when I get up. I think we can all take a hard look at ourselves and figure out what's most important. In the end, we all want to be with our families for a very long time but we're accustomed to a life the way we want to live it. Quit smoking, hell no, drinking, hell no. My comeback to any of those statements are "I could get hit by a car tomorrow", I guess in essence, I get no sleep and do things that are unhealthy to my body. I could quite possibly be in Ray Rhodes shoes at anytime but at least I have a chance to prevent it. Sports isn't the end all be all but for some of us it's a passion we talk about everyday. But in order for all of us to talk about it we need to take care of ourselves as well. Ray Rhodes is lucky, he actually has a third chance to change.
